The first project since Hexstatic’s successful collaboration with Coldcut involves a triple dose of retro-computer game nostalgia, once again ingeniously sampled simultaneously as audio and video to create a compelling hybrid. Somehow the groove seemed memorably funkier without the images to distract. Or perhaps the typical TV set’s speaker just can’t handle the bass? Should one dance or just stare?
